11/03

From teacher Angela: Madeline found two sticks in the block area this morning. We blew bubbles and Madeline waved her sticks in the air to pop them each time new bubbles were blown. Victor came over and Maddie gave him one of her sticks to use with the bubbles. During gathering time we sang a song about names. Madeline patted her chest when we sang her name.

From Mom: Madeline is increasingly fascinated with the moon. The end of daylight savings time has fed her interest. It used to be that each morning, as we left the house, Madeline pointed straight up to the sky and exclaimed smiling: "I see ih." Even on cloudy mornings she'd look to the appropriate spot in the sky and ask "moo?" (Cloud cover was a matter of some disappointment.) Now that the darkness falls earlier we have to work hard to get her in the door. We are experiencing a mid-Autumn warming spell. If she had her way I'm sure that Madeline would spend most of the evening outdoors. There was a clear sky last night and the crescent moon shown brightly. She jumped up and down pointing and shouting "moo ... moo." She doesn't understand the distance (of course) however. She was hesitant to move out of the driveway onto the grass - nervous, I think, that by changing position her view would be obscured. When I asked her "Do you want to go get the moon?" She said "yeah" and immediately took off running down the grass in a southeasterly direction. Good luck kiddo!
