From Mom: Madeline continues to delight us with her growing vocabulary. She talks almost without ceasing (which should come as no surprise to those of you who know Adam and I well). But she's innovating by leaps and bounds these days. This morning, while watching the birds from the window, we overheard her counting to "ten" clearly and deliberately. Later, we peaked in her room and she was sitting in her special reading chair (which she moves from room to room depending on the time of day), book in her lap, turning the pages and "reading" Dr. Seuss out loud. (Reading in her room to herself is a favorite activity and I've vowed never to be angry when I walk in and a half dozen books are scattered about having been pulled from the shelves.) Tonight, impatient with me for writing e-mails, she pushed the down the back of my laptop and announced "I close it now, my Mommy." After dinner she saw me drinking water out of a wine glass and announced "Wine all done, now water!" But our favorite most recently is when she asks to sing "Mary had a little MAN [sic]." The funny thing is that she sees little pictures of people and shouts "little man! little man!" We aren't sure why this has persisted but the confusion is genuine and entertaining.
